Everything You Need to Know
When you generate a share link, your browser encrypts the note locally using the Web Crypto API (AES-GCM 256-bit). Only the encrypted ciphertext is saved temporarily to our database. The decryption key is appended to the link after the # hash symbol (e.g. #key=...). Because browsers never send URL hashes to web servers, only people you give the link to can decrypt the note.
Outsmart Notes uses IndexedDB as its primary storage engine. Unlike synchronous localStorage, IndexedDB is asynchronous, supports multi-megabyte documents, and prevents any user-interface freezes during auto-saving.
